High Energy Physics (Experimental)

Our work is based upon experiments at high energy particle accelerators, with group members at present making up part of international collaborations working on experiments at CERN (Geneva), Fermilab (Chicago) and on R&D activities for future colliders (Linear Collider, Future Circular Collider) and the corresponding sensitivity studies.

Experiments which are currently running:

ATLAS

A general purpose detector for the LHC at CERN.

LHCb

CP violation and b-quark physics at the LHC.

MicroBooNE

Neutrino cross-section measurements at Fermilab using LAr TPCs.

Running experiments which the group was previously involved in:

CALICE

R&D for particle flow calorimetry.

New Frontiers / Future Experiments

Future Colliders

The International Linear Collider (ILC), Compact Linear Collider (CLIC) and Future Circular Collider (FCC).

DUNE

A next-generation neutrino detector

AION

A Networked Atom interferometry Observatory

ANUBIS

AN Underground Belayed In-Shaft search experiment to search for ultra-long-lived particles at the LHC

Detector research and development for current experiments and future upgrades:

Detector R&D

Tracking sensor and photon-sensitive sensor development and readout.

Muography

Muon scattering and muon absorption tomography for industrial applications and public engagement.

We have also been involved in a number of previous experiments which have now finished data-taking, though some of them still continue to produce results.
