Specific to the tests of Barrel 3, the crates have been cabled up according to a plan listed below. This mapping is also reflected in the file Barrel3full.xml in this directory.
Here is the rack mapping for crates -- going from Z- to Z+ :
Z- Z+ 1 2 3 4 5 6 Fan Fan Fan Fan Fan Fan PS PS PS PS PS PS CB CB CB CB CB ROD-0 Empty C-0 Dummy Empty Empty ROD-0 S-0 Empty C-4 C-1 C-5 PS S-1 C-2 Empty Empty Empty ROD-1 Empty Empty C-6 C-3 C-7 ROD-1 S = Sector Crate C = Barrel Crate PS = Power Supply Dummy = Dummy load box for testing PS CB = Circuit Breaker Box, aka "Octopus" ROD = Readout Driver Crate
In the ROD crates, the Z- cards and cables have been placed in the corresponding Z- side of the crates and the Z+ have also been placed accordingly. The cabling is sequential in RX and TX fibres from Z- to Z+. The lower ROD crate now contains:
Slot / ROD# / BOC# / reads out 5 / E23 / B002 / Sector 6 / F40 / B003 / B3 Z- LMT 01-08 8 / F41 / B007 / B3 Z- LMT 09-16 10 / F42 / B012 / B3 Z- LMT 17-24 12 / F43 / B018 / B3 Z- LMT 25-32 13 TIM 14 / F44 / B019 / B3 Z+ LMT 01-08 16 / F45 / C034 / B3 Z+ LMT 09-16 18 / E25 / C037 / B3 Z+ LMT 17-24 20 / E31 / C038 / B3 Z+ LMT 25-32 21 / F46 / B016 / Harness
Special case: The sector, as of now, has only two rows of modules on, corresponding to TX fibres of 9 and 10 and RX fibres of 17, 18, 19 and 20.
The Low Voltage cards which provide the modules with V_cc and V_dd have 4 channels. The High Voltage cards which provide HV of 150V-500V to the modules have 8 channels.
Each LVHV crate can supply HV and LV for 8 half-rows of modules, or 48 modules -- which in turn means that there are 12 LV cards and 6 HV cards in each crate. The Crate number determines the power supply mapping. Crates with even numbers(starting from 0) belong to the Z- side and crates with odd numbers belong to the Z+ side.
Each power crate has two special cards:
1) The Crate Controller, CC. This card controls all the HV and LV cards in the crate and talks natively in CAN to the DCS Computer through the CAN bus. Each of these cards have a dip-switch which lets the user set the Crate number, mentioned above. 2) SIC - Interlock Card. This card monitors the states of the HV and LV cards and talks through a connection on the back of the crate to the Matrix.
The configuration file that is generated by the DAQ side and gets copied to the DCS side is called Cnf_Map.txt. It contains the mapping of HV and LV cards.
Rows Crate ID z+ z- LMT 15-22 1 0 LMT 23-30 3 2 LMT 31-6 5 4 LMT 7-14 7 6
Here, the mapping power channels for the LMT 15-22 Z+ is given as an example. The rest of z+ side follows in translational symmetry of this mapping. The channels listed here also correspond to the number on the connections-1 (minus 1) on the back of the power crates. The Z- side is the mirror image of this mapping.

On the front side of the PS crate, here is the mapping of the cards:
