Breakfast

For those people staying in College, breakfast is available from 0815 weekdays and Saturday and from 0830 on Sunday. Breakfast is in the main Hall (turn right after entering Emmanuel). For those not staying in college there are plenty of coffee shops nearby. .

Lunch

Cambridge has a large number of restaurants/Cafes/Bars for a few local suggestions can be found here. Dinner

There are many restaurants. Most are along a single long rong. Either turn left or right out of Emmanuel and keep going along: St Andrews St (left), Sidney Street leading onto Bridge Street (right). A few recommendations:

Turn left (St Andrews, Regent Street):

  • Charlie Chan's Good chinese, but not the cheapest.
  • Zizzi Decent cheap pizza/pasta.
  • Asia Modern Asian fusion
  • Saffron Good Indian

Turn right (Bridge Street, Magdalene Street)

  • Anatolia Turkish, meat, more meat and even more meat. Good set menu.
  • Chez Gerard French Brasseria, good but not the cheapest
  • Maharajah Good Indian

Elsewhere (all within easy walking distance):

  • Brown's Good English/French food.
  • Loch Fyne Seafood restaurant - good but not cheap
  • India House Good Indian
  • Sala Thong Thai - good and reasonably priced

Collaboration Meeting Dinner (Monday 23rd January)

The collaboration meeting dinner will take place in the Emmanuel College Hall at 1930 on Monday 23rd January. Pre-dinner drinks in the Old Library at 1900. A vegetarian/non-pork option will be available (this must be indicated when you register).

MENU

  • Orange and thyme duck confit served with beetroot salad
  • Herb crusted loin of lamb
  • Marquise of chocolate with irish cream sauce
  • Coffee and mints
  • Port

  • The Eagle Famous centre-of-town pub - take a look at the RAF bar.
  • The Fountain Very near to college, stays open late.
  • The Pikeral Very old (16th century) dark and dingy pub. good beer,
  • The Castle On castle hill (bridge street). Very good beer, a Cavendish favourite.
  • The Anchor Pleasant riverside pub
  • The Granta OK pub in good location, over-looking Mill pond.
  • Free Press/The Elm/The cricketers A group of nearby pubs. All good.
