 MCRS services : Waste disposal

Services >> Waste Disposal

Each resident is issued with a green wheeled bin, a black wheeled bin and a black recycling box.

All residents are asked to store black and green wheeled bins and recycling boxes away from the pavement except on collection day. When putting rubbish out, keep in mind that 'side rubbish' will not be collected. All rubbish must be placed in the appropriate bin.

Collection Day

Wednesday is the normal weekly collection day in the Close for black wheeled bins. On Bank Holiday weeks, collection day is one day later (Thursday).

Green wheeled bins and black recycling boxes are collected fortnightly on Wednesdays, except during Bank Holiday weeks when they are also collected on the Thursday.

Bin Types

  • Black wheeled bin - These are to be filled with normal household rubbish.
  • Green wheeled bin - These are to be filled with organic, compostable waster such as grass and hedge cuttings, vegetables and fruit peelings, tea bags and coffee filters, egg shells and stale bread, bark and untreated wood, flowers and weeds, newspaper to wrap the above, yellow pages and cardboard in manageable pieces.
  • Black recycling boxes - These may be filled with glass, paper, newspapers and tin cans.

Communal Green Bins

Five large green bins situated in the Close are for communal use. Residents who use these will have to take responsibility for putting them out on collection day, and returning them to their position. These have been labeled 'MCRS' and are at present situated:

in the garage court behind No's 39-40
near the gate by No 29
near the gate between No's 49-50
near the gate between No's 4-5
in the bin corral near the garages behind No's 14-19.

For more information about recycling, please contact the Council.
