Dear colleagues, This is a final reminder of the PPAP community review meetings to be held next week in Birmingham: July 13,14,15. Full details can be found at: http://www.hep.phy.cam.ac.uk/~thomson/ppap.html Please note that, to allow a briefing from PPAN, we have decided to shorten the initial coffee break and start proceedings 15 minutes earlier, at 10.45 a.m. We realise that this may affect (slightly) travel plans. However, the only alternative was to lengthen the meeting at the other end, which we felt would cause greater problems for homeward travel, or shorten the discussion time, which was generally agreed to be not acceptable. The meetings will therefore start at 10.45 a.m. with a brief introduction, followed by a brief report from PPAN. THE SCIENTIFIC PROGRAMME WILL START AS ADVERTISED AT THE SAME TIME OF 11.05! The PPAN briefing will be given by Jordan Nash on both the 13th and 14th July, to reach as large an audience as possible, so if people miss it one day they may catch it the next. If there is demand we can re-run the briefing slides on July 15th also. If you are not able to attend in person in Birmingham it will be possible to call in via EVO and/or a telephone conference line – see details below – but please understand that this is on a ‘best efforts’ basis, and we cannot guarantee superb sound quality and capability for 100s of outside callers! We are very grateful to our Birmingham colleagues for setting this up, and we’ll do our best to make it work. The talks will be posted beforehand on the Indico server: http://conference.ippp.dur.ac.uk/categoryDisplay.py?categId=33 (also linked from the PPAP www site (url above)). In order to help structure discussions ‘on the day’ we have posted sets of discussion questions on blogspots linked from the Indico pages. It will be helpful if people take a look at the questions, and add comments to the blog if they wish. DISCLAIMER: THE QUESTIONS ARE ONLY THERE TO PROVOKE DISCUSSION, AND DO NOT NECESSARILY REPRESENT THE VIEWS OF THE PPAP OR THE PROGRAMME COMMITTEES! Looking forward to seeing you in Birmingham… Best wishes, Phil (for the PPAP) EVO connection information: The EVO meeting sessions will be provided on a best-effort basis, as with the telephone conference setup. The EVO booking allows some time either side of the timetabled sessions. Contributions by EVO users from their laptops/desktops should be OK as long as they use headsets or echo-cancelling setups. External contributions to the discussion will in any case no doubt be controlled by, and be at the discretion of, the session chair.
