Welcome

Thank you for visiting the home page of silicon development within the High Energy Physics Group at the  Cavendish Laboratory. Our activities and expertise cover all aspects of the design, development and evaluation of silicon microstrip detectors for particle physics experiments, ranging from the design of the wafer masks through to final implementation of the detector.

Our work is currently focussed on the production and quality control of silicon microstrip detectors for use in the barrel region of the ATLAS SCT.

Previous projects include the design and development of the OPAL silicon detector, variable-pitch detectors for ATLAS evaluation studies, and the development of edge termination structures to withstand extremely high bias voltages (funded under the PPARC industrial award scheme).
