This mail ended up longer than I expected as I was listening to a funny radio program whyle typing it -- and so it has rambled a bit. In case you get bored before getting the the bottom of it, the short of it is that I;ll up my offer to £44 inc postage. Reasons below. Best wishes!] Hi, Thanks for testing. It looks like you have exactly the right part(s). I am certainly still interested -- as I do need one of these -- and my wife is fed up with us driving around without carpet in the back of the car and wants things fixed. It looks like your brother likes to drive a hard bargain, though, ... I offered £35 -- he wants £50. Hmm. Does he know that on ebay at the moment there is a German seller who has one I could buy for £30 + postage (37 EURO) ? That's where I based my offer. Here is the link: http://tinyurl.com/p4lbybp You'll see that it isn't explicitely rated a K004 ... but it is listed as exactly the same car make engine and body shape as me. Only the year is different (their car is 2002, mine is 2003) ... but I think it is near enough. The only reason I haven't gone with them, yet, are that: 1. I'd prefer to let a fellow UK resident profit if I have the choice, (fewer air miles, and better for UK PLC into the bargain) and 2. They cannot 100% confirm that it'll be an 004 as they've taken it out and so can't use VCDS on it any more. Still, I'm 90% certain theirs is the same as yours, and if it isn't, I should be able to diagnose it's type and try to re-sell it *with* a diagnosed code. OK -- enough waffle. I'll split the difference and up my offer to £44 including postage -- this is assuming that you/he agree to make sure it's the one from the drivers side of the car (which is likely to be the one in better condition). This is because I feel safer buying from you than from Germany, and I believe your part has (marginally) a better chance of working and so might save me some time. If he wants to stick with £50 plus postage, I think I'll try my luck with the German's. Let me know if this appeals. Thanks, Chris P.S. To my knowledge the last time an accurately labelled K004 sensor sold on ebay was an unused item still in its original box. That went for £49.99 + £4.89 postage. See here: http://tinyurl.com/p9t3l29 That is comparable to what your bro wants ... but to my mind it commands a better price for having never been installed. [ I took my broken one to pices to find out why it stopped working, and I found that the cpu board buried in potting compound is connected to the connector pins with a push-fit through-hole friction bond which (slowly) corrodes in the humid under-carpet environment. Basically a stupid design, if you ask me, for a sensor installed in a vibrating humid environment. Yours, like mine, will have been slowly corroding ... and I would pay more (£55) for one that I knew had never been used. These are basically badly designed components that for want of a tiny bit of solder in the factory would probably never go wrong ... :( Gah! kesterlester Posts: 1 Joined: Tue Apr 15, 2014 10:21 pm Top Previous PMNext PM Expand view Message history: Re: Thanks - Try MVB 009 in VCDS Sent: Sat May 24, 2014 11:55 am by kesterlester [Oops! Re: Thanks - Try MVB 009 in VCDS Sent: Fri May 23, 2014 5:31 pm by Nd90nd Image As you can see it is "04" part, I have spoken to my bro who's car it is and he's happy to sell for £50 plus postage I think it's only a few quid if 2nd class. Let me know if your still interested. Thanks - Try MVB 009 in VCDS Sent: Fri May 23, 2014 7:16 am by kesterlester Thanks, that'd be great. Let me know what you see in the measuring value block number 009 of the airbag controller module in VCDS. I need sensors that read "04" in the identification field - nothing else will do (sadly).
