The picture on the left shows the Pye
warehouse which pre-dated Ellis House, the garages which used to occupy the
Prentis parking space, and the old 'barrier' separating MC from the alley.
Evidently there was
petrol for sale in front of what is now Wilco, and all the shops had their
forecourts bollarded off. We don't have an accurate date for the picture but
it can't be later than 1980, and is probably considerably
earlier, judging by the cars.
