I am currently studying for a PhD in particle physics at the University of Cambridge, where I also graduated with an MSci in 2005.
I am working on the ATLAS experiment at CERN in Geneva. The image on the left shows a webcam image of the ATLAS cavern. At the moment I am looking at analysis of Diboson events, in particular the ZZ→llνν channel. I have also worked on the Inner Detector Semiconductor Tracker DAQ system in readiness for the first LHC collisions in 2009.
I also spent a summer (2004) and a year (2005-2006) working at the Royal Observatory in Edinburgh (ROE) where I used absorption index data from the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS) to infer the properties of Luminous Red Galaxies, some of the most massive objects in the sky. There is a summary and some data available here.
I also try to get involved a little in outreach, explaining to the general public what we do. I recently gave a talk to a group of UK schools at CERN, you can see their reaction here.
