Controls

The two sliders on the graphics window control the persistence and saturation of the image.

Each new hit on a pixel increases the pixel intensity by one unit. The intensity then decays by an constant factor on each tick of the clock. The persistence slider allows to modify this decay factor. The saturation count slider sets the pixel hit count for which the pixels are displayed brightest. Below this number the pixel brightness is reduced pro rata. Above this number a pixel appears at maximum brightness.

The display updating can be stopped and resumed with the "Stop" and "Go" buttons. The "Clear" button clears the display.

Different sources of data can be selected using the "Data source URL" combo box. The source should be specified in URL syntax which may be absolute or relative to the current code base. Here are some examples:

Local security policies at your site may prevent some of these possibilities from working.

The display colours can be customised using the buttons on the "Controls" tab.

Moving the mouse over the image area will display in the status area the intensity of the pixel under the mouse pointer.
