Printers

We have a number of printers in the group. The intention is to provide as much functionality as possible separately on the Ground and First Floors. Hence there are both B&W (for volume printing) and Colour Laserprinters on each floor (note that the pages per minute figure is nominal and is meant to give an idea of the speed - what you actually get may be very different):

Black and white printers

  • HP LaserJet P3015x - 40 ppm A4 duplex with 500-sheet input tray. Situated upstairs in room 941.
  • HP LaserJet P3015x - 40 ppm A4 duplex with 500-sheet input tray. Located downstairs in the internal corridor outside room 885.

Colour printers

For colour printing we have a total of three printers.

  • Konica Minolta bizhub C364e - 36ppm A3 duplex printer/scanner/phtocopier with 500-sheet input trays. Located upstairs in room 942.
  • HP LaserJet 500 color M551dn - 33ppm A4 duplex printer with 500-sheet paper tray. Situated upstairs in room 941.
  • HP Color LaserJet CP3525x - 30ppm A4 duplex with 500-sheet paper tray. Situated downstairs in the internal corridor outside room 885.

Note that we only have printers for up to A3 output. If you need to print on A2 or larger then you will need to talk to Reception or UIS - so please plan ahead for large-format printing as the printing may not be possible immediately..

Printer hardware status

Full details for using the group's printers are given in the pages devoted to the operating system support. Below are links to the various status pages for the printers themselves.

Printer queue and job status

For Linux users, you can visit the page below to get the status of the print queues for these printers:

For Windows users, Start==>Settings==>Printers and Faxes will display the printers known to your PC. Double-click on any printer for the status of the queue for that printer.

To attach a printer in Windows, navigate to Printers and Faxes==>Add Printer and select Find in directory. Click Find Now to list all the known printers, select the one you want and click OK.

Printing via eduroam

It is possible to print to our printers over eduroam. For Windows users, choose the option "Select the shared printer by name" and specify the printer name as http://pclf.hep.phy.cam.ac.uk:631/printers/<printer queue> where <printer queue> is the CUPS printer queue name.

Please note that printing to our printers over a wireless connection will not work via UniOfCam due to restrictions imposed by UIS.
