Software for the Bias Card
It is planned that two software packages will be developed for the
Bias Card:
- A program
to permit low level testing of the card. There are now versions 1.0 and
1.1 available.
- A library of routines to
provide an interface to the higher level functionality of the card (there
are now Versions 1, 2 and 2.1 of this library, with the latest update on 31
October 1997).
The low-level program has been
coded in C with preprocessor directives
to allow it to build on OS9 V2.x (default), OS9 V3.0 (OS9), Visual C++ on
Windows NT with access via the
National Instruments PCI-VME interface (VXINT) and the RAID 8235 under
EP/LX (RAID). It should be straightforward to extend it to other environments.
The high level library is also
intended to be portable. It is meant to provide a relatively friendly
interface between the user and the hardware, so users
don't have to remember the precise register to access, to (for example) set a
voltage. The precise details of this library are still being worked-out.
